Member of the Week: Mel Foster Company

Congratulations to the Mel Foster Company as ECIA Member of the Week!

The Mel Foster Company heritage - since 1924 - is rooted in a commitment to providing innovative solutions to their customers, principals and partners. Mel Foster was one of the earliest rep firms to have a distribution manager, field application engineer, a website, and use of hardware/software tools in the business.

Today, Mike Swenson heads up the 100% employee-owned company.  Guided by his leadership, they have focused their efforts on having one of the largest customer-focused electronics component sales forces in the Midwest, driving more relevance and resources to companies they work with. These efforts have been supported through a of number rep firm acquisitions, now with operations spanning 15 states.

Mike and his team have been active in ECIA since its start in 2011. Mike currently serves on the Independent Manufacturer Rep Council and has participated and led several committee initiatives, most recently on Best Practices for Business Reviews. He has also Chaired the Executive Conference.

Mel Foster Company embraces new technologies and continues to lead the industry in forward-thinking marketing efforts. It is one of the most respected technology manufacturer representatives in the U.S.

ECIA and the GIPC have a work group of 10 companies meeting to research and discuss the ever changing workplace due to COVID-19. They recently developed a business operations survey to determine adjustments being made due to COVID-19 and to better understand how electronic component companies were handling post pandemic changes and changes due to the recent surge with the DELTA Variant.

ECIA Welcomes Stephanie Tierney! 

We are excited to announce that Stephanie Tierney has joined the staff as Director of Marketing Communications and Member Engagement. Stephanie Tierney has been in the tech industry for over 15 years with seven years of association and membership engagement experience specifically in the electronic components industry. Ms. Tierney will work alongside Debbie Conyers, currently ECIA Vice President of Member Engagement, for the remainder of 2021, enabling a smooth transition for the association when Ms. Conyers retires at the end of the year.
