ECIA’s Edward Mikoski Receives ANSI Award
Howard Coonley Medal recognizes an executive who has given outstanding support to standardization as a management tool.

ATLANTA  ECIA is proud to announce that Edward Mikoski, ECIA’s Vice President of Standards and Technology, has been awarded the prestigious Howard Coonley Medal from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The Howard Coonley Medal is presented by ANSI to an executive ‘who has benefitted the national economy through voluntary standardization and conformity assessment and has given outstanding support to standardization as a management tool.’

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a private non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance both the global competitiveness of U.S. business and the U.S. quality of life by promoting and facilitating voluntary consensus standards and conformity assessment systems, and safeguarding their integrity.

Mr Mikoski coordinates industry technical standards development programs for a dozen national committees and administers thirteen U.S. Technical Advisory Groups to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for ECIA. Ed represents ECIA in an array of industry leadership and governance activities. Since 2000, he has led the standards activities in several organizations, including the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA), the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), and the Electronic Components Association (ECA).

“We are very proud of the work that Ed and the ECIA Standards Committees do for the industry,” commented ECIA’s CEO and President David Loftus. “Coordinating the standards that improve efficiencies and lower costs for both manufacturers and consumers is usually a thankless job that many take for granted. We are especially pleased to see that Ed's tireless and exacting efforts have been recognized by this ANSI award.”

ANSI’s membership comprises businesses, professional societies and trade associations, standards developers, government agencies, and consumer and labor organizations. The Institute represents and serves the diverse interests of more than 270,000 companies and organizations and 30 million professionals worldwide. ANSI is the official U.S. representative to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and, via the U.S. National Committee, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
